Ceramic Coating

What is Ceramic Coating

In most cases your vehicle is your second largest investment why not protect that investment and help maintain resale value. You've probably heard the term ceramic coating as of lately and seen all the ads claiming you can protect your paint in one easy step using some substance in a spray bottle but the truth is those ads don't go in depth on what true ceramic coating is and does due to the fact that what they're selling isn't true coating and doesn't offer nearly any of the benefits ceramic coating has to offer. Coating your vehicle is a much more in depth process that includes hours of prep work to ensure its effectiveness and longevity. But what exactly is it and what does it do? Ceramic coating is a si02 based liquid that bonds to your vehicles clear coat and forms an extra protective layer from the elements and harsh chemicals that your vehicle may come in contact with. Most coatings are of a 9H hardness which is much harder than your average clear coat helping to protect against scratching and is also incredibly hydrophobic making the washing process much easing and if applied to the windows helps tremendously to see in raining conditions. Why chose ceramic over traditional wax? Like previously stated coating bonds to clear coat allowing to last up to five years if maintained properly compared to the three months most waxes are effective for along with the fact the protective properties are much stronger than waxes. Ceramic coating can also be applied to almost every surface of the vehicle from the paint to the wheels and windows and even the interior. Now if you do decide to protect your vehicle with a ceramic coating it is strongly recommended that the vehicle under goes a paint correction before hand to remove all imperfections from the clearcoat due to the fact that once the coating is applied any imperfections are now sealed under the coating and to remove them it would require the removal of the coating to remove imperfections such as light scratches and or micro scratches.
